Chase Stratton Elliot Ewoldt was born on Saturday, December 12, 2009. A feisty child, he made his personality well known from an early age. Shortly after his second birthday, Chase began experiencing changes to his memory, personality, and speech. It would take many weeks without answers before an early-morning seizure on July 31, 2012, finally led to the diagnosis of a brain tumor that had spread to his spine.
Given less than a 20% chance of survival and a difficult road through a “best shot” treatment, Chase underwent multiple surgeries and months of difficult chemotherapies and radiation to his whole brain and spine.
Now considered a long term survivor of his disease at 6 years of age, Chase’s medical status is “NED” – “no evidence of disease”, despite his continued battle with physical and neurological issues as a result of his diagnosis and treatment side effects.
Like most young children, he loves to read, color, and run.
He often tells people not to worry because he is a survivor.
